Traveling in Andalusia, Southern Spain

Plaza de America in SevilleAndalusia, in Southern Spain, is the most popular holiday destination in Europe and whilst its 800km of beaches spread over its four ‘Costa’s’  may have a lot to do with that fact, Andalusia has a whole lot more to offer than just a beach holiday. Andalusia is the second largest of the Autonomous Regions in Spain and is itself made up of eight provinces: Huelva and Cadiz in the West, Jaen and Almeria in the East and in the heart of Andalusia, (in its ‘corazón’), you have the four provinces of Seville, Cordoba, Malaga and Granada.

We at ‘Your Andalusia’ are based where three of these central provinces meet  and as such could not be closer to the geographical heart of Andalusia. From our base town of Puente Genil you are in easy driving distance of all the provincial capitals and all the wonders that they hold. Choose to stay at our private Villa and you can make day trips to the World Heritage sites of Seville, Cordoba and of course Granada……who could resist the allure of the Alcazar in Seville with its spectacular gardens or the Mezquita of Cordoba with its unique blending of two religions……..and of course the Alhambra in Granada, for many the jewel in the Andalusian crown. Or  you could choose to visit  the Extra Virgen Olive Oil museums of Baena or the vineyards and bodegas Montilla or Jerez and learn more about two of the products for which Andalusia is world famous. Sherry is of course the fortified wine made in the city of Jerez, Andalusia. The name ‘sherry’ actually comes from the Arabic name for Jerez Å eriÅ¡ (pronounced ‘Sherish’). Read more about Sherry Bodegas in Jerez.
